Description

TilePro Super is a high-performance polymer-modified cement- based, tile adhesive for a wide range of applications.

TilePro Super is a blend of Portland cement, graded sand reinforced with high quality organic polymer, synthetic resins and special additives. Mixed with water, it becomes an easily trowellable mortar with good bonding strength, low slump and high grab so that it can be applied vertically without sagging, even holding heavy tiles.

Additional Information

  • On cement screeds, ground anhydrite and/or gypsum based floated screeds, precast concrete elements, aerated concrete, heated screeds, plasterboards, gypsum fibre boards, dry screeds, insulation boards, plaster slabs, plaster, masonry, old ceramic tiles, cork rubber mats.
  • Used in conjunction with TilePro Grout EP, the system is suitable for use where chemical resistance or a high standard of hygienic quality is essential.

Benefits

  • Low VOC emission designed tile adhesive
  • Flexible – polymer modified
  • Waterproof: immersion will not affect adhesion
  • Non-slip, perfect for walls
  • High adhesive bond strength
  • Easy workability

For extreme conditions, such as vibration or temperature extremes, thin and/or very large format porcelain& stone tile installation on foamed concrete walls, etc., TilePro Super can be mixed with TilePro LTX instead of water.

Note.: Mixing TilePro Super with TilePro LTX Additive in place of water improves the characteristics to meet the requirements of class C2ES2 (highly deformable improved cementitious adhesive with extended open time) according to EN 12004.

Substrate Preparation

The substrate must be well cured, mechanically and dimensionally stable, strong, clean, dry and free from flaking parts, laitance, grease, oil, paint, wax, corrosion deposits, dust, loose materials, etc. It should be ensured that tiles are dry, and free of contaminants that could impair adhesion. Concrete, screeds, renders, and blockwork should be cured sufficiently that all shrinkage movement has occurred

Minimum age of the substrate (In mild weather):

  • Renders must have cured at least 1 week for each centimeter of thickness
  • FloorPro Rapid Screed (rapid setting cementitious semi-dry screed) must have cured at least 3 days
  • FloorPro Easy Screed (normal cementitious semi-dry screed) must have cured at least 28 days

Note: The screed drying time is subject to the screed thickness and site conditions.

Priming:

The prepared substrate should be thoroughly soaked, to a saturated but surface dry condition prior to application of the TilePro Super, few hours ago, before applying the mix to minimize absorption. Any residual surface water should be removed prior to commencement.

Gypsum substrates and anhydrite screeds must be perfectly dry, sufficiently hard and free of dust. It is absolutely essential that very absorbent cement-based substrates, plasterboards, cement boards, calcium silicate boards, aerated concrete and anhydrite screeds are prime with BondPro Penetrating Primer. For tile-on-tile applications, prime the existing tiles with BondPro Grip Primer. Areas subject to high moisture content should be primed with FloorPro Primer MT.

Product Preparation

Add 5 liters of clean water in the mixing bucket. Add full bag of TilePro Super powder slowly and mix continuously for approximately 3-5 minutes until a smooth, creamy and lump free consistency is achieved. Add water, if necessary, within the limits given (max 5.2 liters / bag), until the required consistency is achieved. Mix for a further 1-2 minutes. The amount of water required will be affected by ambient temperature and relative humidity.

Product Application

TilePro Super is applied with a notched trowel onto the substrate. To obtain good adhesion to the substrate the following system is recommended:  first apply a thin coat of TilePro Super using the smooth side of the trowel and immediately afterwards apply the desired thickness using the toothed side of the trowel on to a smooth surface (trowel @ 45°)

Installation of the tiles:

It is not necessary to wet the tiles before installation; only in the case of very dusty backs washing is recommended, by quickly immersing them in clean water. The tiles must be installed in the normal way, placing them firmly to ensure good contact with the adhesive. Unfavorable environmental conditions (strong sunlight, drying wind, high temperature as well as a highly absorbent substrate), could drastically reduce open time

Spread the adhesive onto the substrate using a suitable notched trowel between 2 to 5mm by trowel to either the tile or the substrate faces or a single face as per the work method employed. Work into the substrate to ensure complete wetting out of the surface

Joints:

Movement joints should be provided in accordance with normal practice. It is recommended that when fixing ceramic tiles, a minimum spacing of 2mm be left around each tile. Ceramic tiles should never be butt jointed. Adjustments to tiles should only be made during the adhesives open time.

Grouting & Sealing:

Joint grouting with TilePro Grout (cementitious tile grout) may be commenced 24 hours after tiles have been laid. Wall joints between the ceramic tiles can be grouted after 4-8 hours and floor joints can be grouted after 24 hours with the specific TilePro cementitious or epoxy grouts, available in different colours.

  • Joint width from 1 to 8 mm: TilePro Grout
  • Joint width from 1 to 10 mm: TilePro EP Grout

Movement joints, corner joints (floor/wall) and connection joints (fixtures/tiles, wood/tiles) may be sealed with the elastic silicone joint sealant from SealPro range.

Cleaning:

Tools, equipment and mixers with clean water immediately after use (before hardening). Cured material can only be    removed by mechanical means. Similarly, joints must be raked out in readiness for grouting

Others
  • Try to avoid application during the hottest times of the day, and in direct sunlight.
  • In hot weather use cold water to bring the mixed material temperature to <30°C.
  • In cold weather use warm water to raise the mixed material temperature to >10°C.
  • Do not add water or fresh mortar to material which has begun to set. Just remix again for 1-2 minutes.
  • Do not proceed with the application when rainfall is imminent unless in a sheltered or protected situation.
  • Only full bags of the product shall be mixed by
  • mechanical means.
  • The product should not be exposed to moving water during application or prior to initial set.
  • Mix only sufficient material that can be applied using available labour and equipment to ensure a continuous and uninterrupted application.
  • Gypsum plaster and plaster boards and surfaces must be primed with BondPro Penetrating Primer as per the datasheet.
  • Do not use TilePro Super
  • on wood and wooden composites
  • on gypsum board or lightweight concrete walls without the correct preparation and treatment
  • on metal, rubber, PVC and linoleum surfaces

- large format tiles

- on pre-cast concrete or surfaces subject to excessive movements

- in cases where the surface needs to be set to light

traffic quickly.
