Description

BondPro Release WB is a ready to use, solvent free water-based mould release agent, that reacts with the alkali content of concrete to form a release film that effectively prevents the bonding of the concrete to the form. It is used as a shutter / mould release agent prior to casting / pouring of concrete because it ensures a smooth and a uniform finish and helps in easy removal of shuttering. After removal of the formwork, the resultant concrete has a smooth, hard, uniform finish, with reduced incidence of blow holes.

BondPro Release WB can be applied to the formwork by spray in the form of a light uniform mist coating.  BondPro Release WB is supplied as a sprayable white liquid, ready for direct application on site. The chemically reactive components in BondPro Release WB provide a water repellent interface which protects formwork and ensures an even colour and texture in the cast concrete.

In addition to preventing adhesion of concrete to formwork, BondPro Release WB will allow air to escape from the interface during concrete placing and vibration. The release of air minimises surface blemishes and blow holes resulting in a substantial reduction in remedial costs.

BondPro Release WB is non-staining and contains corrosion inhibitors and preservatives that extend the life of both steel and wooden forms, whilst reducing the cleaning time required making form ready for re-use.

Additional Information

Packaging: Coverage/ Yield:
20L pail & 210L drum High quality smooth steel:  75 m²/litre Fair face plywood: 20 m²/litre Wooden framework:  20 to 35 m²/litre Metal or plastic framework:  40 to 50 m²/litre
* Depending on smoothness and porosity of the formwork used. Note: Progressively better results are obtained on plywood and timber moulds as they become impregnated and the operatives become accustomed to working with the release agent.* Best results will be obtained with the thinnest practical coating. Over application should be avoided. Excessive application on flat surfaces or which leads to pooling of release agent in the corners of forms is uneconomic and can lead to surface dusting or, in worst cases, surface retardation.

Typical Applications

  • To provide quick, clean and easy stripping of moulds and formwork and ensure high quality, fair faced and stain free concrete
  • BondPro Release WB is typically used on all types of formworks and is formulated for application to plywood, timber, Metal-steel, GRP etc and plastic faced formwork and moulds, prior to casting concrete, to ensure a clean release.

Recommendations:

Avoid application above 60°C

Benefits

  • Ensures easy release, reducing damage and improving efficiency of production.
  • Minimises surface blemishes and staining, promoting high quality fair-faced concrete
  • Reduces opportunity of damage to formwork, extending usable life.
  • Minimises cleaning of formwork before re-use.
  • Suitable for use with virtually all types of formworks.
  • Inhibits corrosion of steel formwork and early ageing
  • Non-Staining: Does not stain concrete and can be used safely with white cement.
  • Produces a better and cleaner cast when applied on pre-stressed and precast concrete forms.
  • Reduces form cleaning and repairing.
  • Ready to use--requires no additional mixing.
  • Minimizes surface voids.
  • VOC compliant.
  • No reduction of the concrete quality at the surface

Substrate Preparation

Mould Preparation:

Steel moulds require no special treatment other than the removal of rust or oil, wetting out may be improved by lightly abrading the surface. Moulds previously treated with BondPro Release WB will require only light brushing as the presence of fine dust will improve absorption of BondPro Release WB into the mould surface. This will usually result in improved release properties on the second and subsequent uses of the mould.

Surface Preparation:

Form surfaces are to be thoroughly cleaned prior to application. All rust, scale, and previously used form release agents must be removed in accordance with good concrete practices. Clean the forms & moulds either wood or steel by cotton rags to remove dirt & dust. In case of steel surface remove rusty scales by wire brushing & wiping out with cloth. Remove any cured cementitious material by scraping

Product Preparation
Product Application

Stir well the material into its original container by shaking. BondPro Release WB may be applied by brush or conventional mould oil sprayer. If a mould oil sprayer is used, it is important that a fine nozzle is fitted, as BondPro Release WB should be applied in a light continuous film. If BondPro Release WB is over applied, excess material should be allowed to drain and then be carefully removed from the bottom of the mould by means of a sponge or cloth. Pools of BondPro Release WB should not be allowed to dry otherwise surface retardation of the concrete will occur. Unlike conventional mould oils, particular attention should be paid to coating mould rims in order to avoid adhesion of overspill cement slurry. Whenever a new timber or plywood is used, apply initial spray coat to seal the surface and then apply another coat prior to pouring of concrete. If after the first application, the BondPro Release WB is completely absorbed into new timber or plywood, a further application should be made before filling the moulds or formwork.

Apply before the first casting and thereafter reapply immediately after stripping and cleaning the mould. Apply at a a theoretical coverage rate of 40 – 50 m² per litre in a continuous uniform coating.  Lightweight horticultural sprayers are ideal as BondPro Release WB is finely atomized to give a uniform coating. Alternatively, application may be made by a fine haired brush, only a very thin coating should be made and any excess removed. Re-apply BondPro Release WB each time the formwork is used.

BondPro Release WB reacts chemically with cement to impart excellent release properties to treated surfaces. Concrete cast against surfaces coated with BondPro Release WB exhibit a smooth, hard, uniform finish. BondPro Release WB has no negative effect on the properties of concrete nor will it impair the adhesion of subsequent surface treatments when applied at the recommended coverage rates.

After Stripping or Demolding:

After use, the formwork or mould should be brushed or wiped clean of any excess dust prior to re-application of BondPro Release WB for the next use of the mould to minimises the amount of time and effort required

Repair of moulds:

If, after extended use, mould surfaces require repair or re-coating with polyurethane sealer, all residual traces of BondPro Release WB must be removed to ensure complete adhesion. This is best effected by using a strong industrial detergent together with stiff brushing, followed by thorough rinsing with clean water

Others

Cleaning:

Spray equipment should be cleaned immediately after use by flushing through with water. The product may usually be left in spray guns or sprayers without detriment, but there may be some softening of rubber seals with prolonged contact

Storage & Shelf Life:

12 months from manufacturing date in original and unopen packaging, under cover, in dry condition, away from humidity, heat, moisture, protected from extreme temperatures, rainfall & direct sunlight. Excessive exposure to sunlight, humidity and UV will result in the deterioration of the quality of the product and reduce its shelf life.

Health and Safety:

BondPro Release WB is non-toxic; however, it is advisable to wear goggles when spraying. Inhalation of spray should be avoided. In the case of excessive skin contact wash with soap and water and apply skin conditioning cream. Should contact with eyes occur, flush with clean water for 10 minutes. If irritation persists obtain medical advice, if product is swallowed - do not induce vomiting, obtain medical attention immediately. Do not dilute the material with solvent otherwise effectiveness reduces
