Description

BondPro Grip Primer is a low odour, solvent-free primer composed of synthetic resin in water dispersion and aggregates with excellent bond strength, resistance to water and ageing. It guarantees a rough keying surface ideal for render, smoothing compounds and cementitious adhesives, ‘thus ensuring an excellent bond on smooth substrates and substrates with low absorbency’. The product is a special wash primer for smooth, non-absorbent substrates. BondPro Grip Primer is a ready-to-use latex which is easy to apply using either a roller or a brush.

Once dry, it guarantees a tough bond of any render, smoothing and levelling compound and cementitious adhesive on various types of substrates: Concrete, bricks, stone, plasterboard, wood, ceramic, metal, render, etc. It is suitable for internal and external application with a very low emission of VOC.

Additional Information

Applicable Standards/ Compliance: Packaging: Coverage/ Yield:
ASTM C881 Type II Grade 2, Class B,C, E & F§ Meet the requirements of EN- 1504-9 and min.  requirements claimed by EN-1504 5 litre & 20 litre packs. Consumption varies between 0.15 and 0.30 l/m² according to the absorption of the substrate.
* This coverage is theoretical & depends upon the surface profile of the substrate & the wastage.

Typical Applications

  • Multi-purpose, ready-to-use primer for internal and external floors and walls.
  • To improve the bond of cement and lime-based plasters on substrates made from concrete, brickwork, vibro-compressed concrete blocks.
  • Application of smoothing compounds on old ceramic, terrazzo and natural stone floors.
  • Laying ceramic and natural stone floors directly on top of old ceramic floors.
  • For priming dense or impermeable, non-absorbent coverings such as Terrazzo, ceramic tiles and flagstones, glazed clinker bricks, natural stone and cast stone, substrates with adhesive residues as well as asphalt tiles or firmly bonding and rough ground PVC coverings

Benefits

  • Solvent free
  • Very low emissions
  • Ready to use, no mixing required, optimized workability for application by roller and brush
  • High bond strength, reliable adhesion to subsequent coverings
  • Wet proof can be directly covered with tiles - in case of moderate exposure to moisture - if no waterproofing is required

Substrate Preparation

The background must be perfectly sound, clean and strong. Substrates must be clean, dry, well-cured and free from oil, grease, cement laitance and loose parts. In case of existing flooring, before applying, BondPro Grip Primer make sure they are well bonded to the substrate and that there are no cracks. Remove any traces of oil, wax, dust, etc. with a suitable product or by abrading the surface with a power tool. There is no need to wet the surface before applying BondPro Grip Primer. BondPro Grip Primer is the reliable primer for laying coverings on ceramic tiles and flagstones

Product Preparation
Stir BondPro Grip Primer well prior to the application
Product Application

BondPro Grip Primer may be applied to the substrate by brush or roller. The render, smoothing and levelling compound or cementitious adhesive may be applied once BondPro Grip Primer is dry. The minimum waiting time is from 15 to 60 minutes and may vary according to the surrounding temperature and humidity and the absorption of the substrate. It’s possible to apply a second coat of BondPro Grip Primer from the application of the first coat after a long time.

Others

Cleaning:

While still fresh, BondPro Grip Primer may be removed easily from tools with water. Once dry, it must be removed with alcohol-based solvent.

Storage & Shelf Life:

BondPro Grip Primer remains stable for at least 12 months under normal conditions in its original, sealed packaging. BondPro Grip Primer is non-flammable and has an extremely low emission level of volatile organic compounds (VOC). It may also be stored without taking particular precautions.

Recommendations:

  • Do not use BondPro Grip Primer in the presence of rising damp or rising humidity, and on continuously immersed surfaces.
  • BondPro Grip Primer is ready-to-use, no dilution is required.
  • Do not use as adhesion promoter for smoothing compounds and cementitious adhesives on screeds and power trowelled concrete and absorbent surfaces in general.
  • Protect applied and cured primer from contamination.
  • The surface finish must be removed by rough-grinding and thorough cleaning prior to the application of BondPro Grip Primer to water-repellent ceramic tiles.

Clean tools and work containers with water immediately after use. When the product has cured it can no longer be removed with water.
