Description

BondPro Cure RB is a single component, ready to use, non-degrading, membrane forming curing compound based on acrylic resin.

Upon application by spray to freshly finished concrete surface, it creates a continuous film-forming, retains sufficient moisture in the concrete for effective curing which ensures full hydration of the cement, improved concrete durability and reduced drying shrinkage. It is available as a clear opaque liquid and white solar reflective version.

It is used specifically where the concrete surface will be subsequently coated with any acrylic coatings, epoxy coatings, paints, etc. This will act as a primer for such type of coatings. When applied to floors, the BondPro Cure RB seals and dustproofs the surface, eliminating the primary source of abrasion and enhancing durability

Additional Information

Applicable Standards/ Compliance: Colors: Packaging: Coverage/ Yield:
BondPro Cure RB gives 90% or greater curing efficiency when tested to BS 7542 and complies with BS 8110 Part 1, clause 6.6.3(c) ASTM C309 Type 1 Class B & Type 2 Class B AASHTO M-148 Type 1 Class D Clear opaque & White 20L pail & 200L drum 3.5 to 5.5 m²/litre

* In favorable conditions such as shaded interior surfaces, adequate curing can be achieved with extended coverage rates.

Typical Applications

  • As a more effective and economical alternative to hessian and water and polythene curing regimes.
  • Recommended for the curing of freshly placed or de-shuttered elements such as columns, beams, slabs, raft in structures like commercial & residential buildings, bridges, tunnels, runways, pavements, exposed concrete, precast concrete, etc

Recommendations:

It is recommended that where the concrete is to receive a coating or the application of tiles, the use of BondPro Cure RB is considered. BondPro Cure RB is a resin based non-degrading curing membrane meeting the requirements of ASTM C-309 Type 1 Class B. It is additionally formulated to act as a primer for many finishes or to seal concrete surfaces and provide a degree of abrasion to flatwork

Benefits

  • Control of moisture loss improves surface quality, reduces permeability, minimizes cracking & shrinkage
  • Single application - Spray application reduces labour costs
  • Eliminates the need for water & alternative curing systems.
  • Promotes a harder dust free surface
  • Cured film is clear and water repellent
  • Reduces drying shrinkage
  • High curing efficiency
  • Reduced labour costs – Min. delay for overcoating, etc.
  • Reduces chloride penetration
  • Reduces dusting
  • Abrasion resistant floors

Substrate Preparation

BondPro Cure RB is supplied ready to use and should not be diluted with forms of solvents. The drum should be rolled on the ground back and forth before use to ensure even dispersal of the pigment. Stir the contents thoroughly prior to application to remove any sediment.

Equipment:

Spray equipment such as knapsack or motorised sprayers which produce a fine mist without damaging the emulsion may be used for BondPro Cure RB. The suitability of equipment should be assessed by an application trial

Product Preparation
Product Application

The compound should be spray applied as evenly as    possible on to the freshly placed concrete. Application should begin as soon as the concrete is free from surface water. The spray nozzle should be held approximately 450 mm from the concrete surface and passed back and forth to ensure complete coverage. Pump pressure should be maintained to give an even, fine spray.

After spraying, no further application of water or other material is necessary to ensure continued curing. The concrete surface should not be disturbed until it has sufficient strength to bear surface loads. The applied film should not be trafficked until it is fully dry, care should also be taken to ensure that the film is not subsequently broken. For horizontal surfaces, BondPro Cure RB should be applied as soon as the initial surface sheen has disappeared from the concrete surface. In the case of formed concrete, BondPro Cure RB should be applied immediately on removal of the formwork.

Subsequent Surface finishes

The acrylic resin in BondPro Cure RB ensure that bond is maintained with adhesives used for installing tiles, and other floor coverings. BondPro Cure RB will act as a primer for paint systems and will enable most surface treatments to progress with minimal delay. Typical surface treatments that will bond to surfaces with BondPro Cure RB are as below, however we recommend to do site trials for suitability:

  • Water based emulsion paints containing PVA, PVC or acrylic co-polymers.
  • Tile adhesives based on the above polymers.
  • Bituminous emulsions and solutions.
  • Polyurethane resin systems.
  • Polysulphide systems.
  • Epoxy resin compositions which do not rely on penetration for substrate bond
Others

Cleaning:

Spray equipment should be cleaned immediately after use by flushing through with water. If spray nozzles become blocked with wax particles these may be easily cleared with white spirit

Health and Safety:

As with all construction chemicals products, caution should always be exercised. Protective clothing such as gloves and goggles should be worn. Treat any splashes to the skin or eyes with fresh water immediately. Should any of the products be accidently swallowed, do not induce vomiting, but call for medical assistance immediately.
