Description

Non-fibrated, rubberized, liquid applied bitumen emulsion coating with selected fillers or extenders, it offers brushing consistency which dries to give an elastomeric, flexible, jointless, tough waterproof and protective damp-proof and vapour-proof membrane

Typical Applications

 Can be used for wide variety of applications, which includes the following:

  • Effectively used in wet area waterproofing.
  • As a protective coating on concrete foundations
  • Tanking and waterproofing of substructures to provide an impervious membrane
  • To provide a vapour proof barrier coating for interior & exterior floors and walls including cladded walls
  • Good damp proofing for concrete, masonry, brick, asbestos cement sheets, and roofing felts etc.
  • Suitable for the treatment concrete, asphalt, metal, roofing felt and other similar roofing surfaces whether flat, sloping or vertical.
  • To provide a dampproof sandwich membrane in new construction or a surface treatment.
  • For the maintenance of many types of Roofs including built-up felt, asphalt, lead, zinc, aluminum, concrete, lightweight screeds, timber, slate, asbestos cement, corrugated iron
  • As an adhesive: for bonding wood blocks and wood mosaics, insulation board, expanded polystyrene and cork tiles and to provide a key for plastering.

When added protection is required, AquaShieldPro RBE 6510 may be used in conjunction with a reinforcing fabric

Substrate Preparation

The surface shall be cleaned thoroughly of all contaminants like dust, rust, traces of curing compound, oil & grease. All surface imperfections and protrusions are to be removed & repaired. Structurally unsound and friable concrete must be removed and repaired with a suitable concrete repair mortar.

It may be applied to damp but not waterlogged surfaces. Old concrete and steel must be structurally sound prior to application. Light mechanical grinding/grit blasting/high-pressure water jet may be used to clean the surface of all the contaminants depending on the degree of contamination on the surface to be coated

Product Preparation

The drum should be rolled on the ground back and forth before decanting material. Stir the contents of the drum thoroughly prior to application

Product Application

Apply by brush, roller or squeegee. Two or more coats must be applied to ensure a durable finish. Second and subsequent coats should be applied at right angles to each other once previous coat have fully cured, allow min 24 hours between first and second coat for better curing.

AquaShieldPro RBE 6510 can be applied to damp but not water clogged surfaces, dampen the brush before and occasionally during use, for         smoother application.

Below Ground Protection: The product may be applied to green concrete immediately after shuttering has been removed. Blind the first coat  with clean sharp sand to afford higher dry film thickness and aid monitoring layer applications. Sandwich Membrane: Two coats to be applied at right angles, blind second coat with clean sharp sand to provide a mechanical key for top screed (minimum thickness 50mm). AquaShieldPro RBE 6510 membrane should marry up with D.P.C. (where applicable).

Walls with Dampness: Remove any coatings and plaster back to the blockwork. Apply three coats of the product blinding the final layer with clean sharp sand whilst still tacky. Replaster using a render modified with BondPro SBR

Others

Curing:

AquaShieldPro RBE 6510 will take longer to dry sufficiently for over-coating in low temperatures and high humidity. Provisions of good ventilation will significantly reduce drying time. The product should be allowed to dry for 3- 5 days.

Cleaning:

Clean all tools immediately after use with clean water. Hardened material can be cleaned with a solvent.

Protection:

Protect floors to withstand light foot traffic for at least 24 hours after installation. Stepping boards may be used after 24 hours when occasional stepping on the floor is unavoidable
