The surface shall be cleaned thoroughly of all contaminants like dust, traces of curing compound, oil and grease. All surface imperfections, nail head protrusions, structurally unsound and friable concrete shall be removed and repaired with a suitable repair mortar. The surface must be dry before priming.

Description
AquaShieldPro Primer SB is a bituminous liquid with moderate boiling range hydrocarbon solvents that seals porous surfaces, such as concrete, which improves the adhesion of bituminous materials that are to be applied to the substrate.
Additional Information
Typical Applications
Generally used as all-purpose bituminous primer on steel and concrete substrates, prior to the application of torch applied and self-adhesive membranes and protective coatings, to increase adhesion and bond to the substrate
Benefits
- High adhesion & bond ability on various substrates
- Good binding ability for dust and loose particles
- Ready to use by brush, roller or spray
- Cold applied, does not require heating
- Binder for dust particles
- Anti-corrosive
The drum should be rolled on the ground back and forth before decanting material. Stir the contents of the drum thoroughly prior to application to remove any sediment.
Apply by brush, roller, squeegee or airless spray gun. The application rate will differ based on the type of substrate and surface profile. Only prime areas that are to be covered in the same day. Do not leave the primer exposed for more than 24 hours. If this should happen, reapply primer coat at given consumption rate and allow to fully cure as above. The primer should be allowed to dry naturally before the application of subsequent layers. For highly porous surfaces application of a second priming coat is recommended.
Cleaning:
Clean all tools immediately after use with clean water. Hardened material can be cleaned with a solvent.
Storage & Shelf Life:
The drums and pails must be stored in a covered area, away from direct sunlight, heat and protect from extreme temperatures. Shelf life is up to 12 months in un-opened conditions, when stored as per recommendations. Failure to comply with the recommended storage conditions may result in considerable premature deterioration of the product and reduce its shelf life. As with all bitumen emulsions, some settlement will occur with prolonged storage. It is, therefore, necessary to invert drums every other week to disperse the settlement.
