The surface shall be cleaned thoroughly of all contaminants like dust, traces of curing compound, oil and grease. All surface imperfections, nail head protrusions, structurally unsound and friable concrete shall be removed and repaired with a suitable repair mortar. The surface must be dry before priming

Description
AquaShieldPro Primer D41is a bituminous liquid that seals porous surfaces, such as concrete, which improves the adhesion of bituminous materials that are to be applied to the substrate
Additional Information
Applicable Standards/ Compliance: | Packaging: | Colours: | Coverage/ Yield: |
Complies with the specification requirement of ASTM D41 - Asphalt primer for roofing, damp proofing and waterproofing | 15 litres pail & 200 litres drum | Black | Steel surfaces: 10 m² / litre per coat Porous concrete: 3 to 6 m² / litre per coat *The coverage will depend on the density, porosity of the substrat, surface profile, variations in level or wastage etc. In order to ascertain the exact coverage, a trial application is carried out at site. |
Typical Applications
Generally used as all-purpose bituminous primer on steel masonry and concrete substrates, prior to the application of torch applied and self-adhesive membranes and protective coatings, to increase adhesion and bond to the substrate
Benefits
- High adhesion & bond ability on various substrates
- Good binding ability for dust and loose particles
- Ready to use by brush, roller or spray
- Cold applied, does not require heating
- Binder for dust particles
- Anti-corrosive
The drum should be rolled on the ground back and forth before decanting material. Stir the contents of the drum thoroughly prior to application to remove any sediment
Apply by brush, roller, squeegee or airless spray gun. The application rate will differ based on the type of substrate and surface profile. Only prime areas that are to be covered in the same day. Do not leave the primer exposed for more than 24 hours. If this should happen, reapply primer coat at given consumption rate and allow to fully cure as above. The primer should be allowed to dry naturally before the application of subsequent layers. For highly porous surfaces application of a second priming coat is recommended.
Cleaning:
Clean all tools immediately after use with clean water. Hardened material can be cleaned with a solvent.
