Description

AquaShieldPro FBE50 is a single component, high build fibrated bitumen emulsion based protective coating containing mineral fillers, stabilizing additives, and non-asbestos fibres which dries to provide to form a continuous seamless waterproof membrane which can fill and seal hairline cracks, pinholes and minor surface imperfections. The coating is dark brown in color, which dries to form a tough black flexible film

Additional Information

Applicable Standards/ Compliance: Packaging: Colours: Coverage/ Yield:
Complies with ASTM D 1227 Type II, Class 1 BS 8102:1990 20 litres pail &     200 litres drum Black Application of 2 coats @ 1m²/litre/ coat will give a total Dry Film Thickness of 1mm

Typical Applications

  • Particularly suitable for a wide range of applications including wet areas, foundations, basements, terraces, retaining walls, bridge abutments, planters, inverted roofs and remedial repairs to felt, asphalt, concrete, fibrous cement or other roof structures when protected from direct sunlight.
  • To protect concrete against acidic and salty ground waters.
  • Waterproofing membrane in sandwich construction.
  • General purpose waterproofing and repair compound for pitched or flat roofs

Benefits

  • Single component
  • Cold applied, no heating required
  • No joints, forms elastomeric membrane.
  • High-build properties ensure rapid application
  • Economical
  • Versatile
  • Non-flammable
  • High elasticity, ensuring a permanently flexible
  • barrier over a wide range of temperatures.
  • Asbestos free product. Can be applied in closed
  • and confined spaces.
  • Excellent adhesion can be applied to a range of substrates like concrete, metal, wood, cork, roofing felt, corrugated iron, zinc, lead, asbestos cement, etc.

Substrate Preparation

All substrates must be sound, clean, dry, smooth and free from protrusions, voids, honeycombs and high spots. Presence of curing agent, paint and oil will impair adhesion. All surface imperfections and protrusions are to be removed and repaired. Structurally unsound and friable concrete must be removed and repaired with a suitable repair mortar. If required light mechanical grinding or wire brushing is recommended.

Product Preparation

The drum should be rolled on the ground back and forth before decanting material. Stir the contents of the drum thoroughly prior to application

Product Application

Applied by brush, broom, roller, trowel or squeegee to obtain a continuous unbroken film. 2 (Two) coats are required with the second coat applied at right angles after the first coat has dried completely

AquaShieldPro FBE50 must be protected from mechanical damage during subsequent construction or backfilling works. Any damage may be repaired by spot application. If a water flood test to be run, the membrane should be cure for a minimum of 10 days.

In areas where AquaShieldPro FBE50 is to receive renders, screeds, tile adhesive or plaster, a keyed surface should be formed by gritting the second coat with clean dry sharp sand whilst the material is still wet. Any excess sand should be brushed off when the product has dried. Whilst AquaShieldPro FBE50 is resistant to frost, adhesion will be impaired if applied to frosted substrates. Application should be avoided if substrate temperatures are below 50º C or rain is imminent.

Others

Tools, equipment and mixers with clean water immediately after use (before hardening) using soapy water. Cured material can be removed mechanically.
